HI all,

When is it worth (and correct) to use mass lumping in simulations?
I have a 2D simulation with a resolution of 0.1 mm with a size of 100 mm, filled with triangles (using the opencarp Block function).

Kind regards,
Robin.

For details you can refer for example to Pezzuto et al. 2016 https://dx.doi.org/10.1002/cnm.2762 or Pathmanthan et al. 2012 https://doi.org/10.1002/cnm.2467

In general, the relative error will be bigger the higher the variability in terms of element size in your mesh. A quasi structured block mesh should be a rather benign case.
