We are delighted to welcome Simone Pezzuto from the Università di Trento, Italy, to the openCARP Steering Committee from August onwards.
Simone brings a strong background in numerical analysis for cardiac modeling and simulation, scientific machine learning, and research software development. We are also very pleased to broaden the geographical representation within the Steering Committee. Welcome to the team, Simone—we look forward to working with you!
At the same time, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to Gunnar Seemann, who is stepping down from the Steering Committee, for his dedication and all the work he has contributed over the past years.
Gunnar is one of the founding fathers of the openCARP community project. Back in 2018, he championed the idea of building the new community code on CARPentry as a joint effort between the groups in Graz, Bordeaux, Freiburg, and Karlsruhe.
Since then, Gunnar has played an instrumental role in growing the openCARP community. He has always been someone who brings people together, and much of the educational material surrounding openCARP was created and managed by him.
Thank you, Gunnar, for everything you have done for openCARP and its community!
Over the coming years, Gunnar will focus more of his energy on his academic coaching service, academic.coach, which may also be of interest to members of our community. We wish him every success in this next chapter.
